Uh, does anybody know this Cat?

Please excuse the first couple of seconds, but the rest is funny!

Wednesday, January 30, 2008

Ahhhh....

Napper and me...doing what we do best: naps, rubs, and ear scritches.

Shhhh...don't tell Treater - I'm still hiding under the bed when Napper's not around to protect me. She still has that carrier out. I'm not sneezing anymore, but she still says I have to go to the vet.

Aaaa-Choo!

Excuse me.

I've been sneezing. A lot. For four long days. My eyes are bothering me. Do I have a kitty-cold?

Shhhhh! Don't tell Treater where I am. I'm hiding under the bed. She has that blue carrier out again. That always means one thing: I'm going to the vet.

Whistle's meme

Whistle was tagged by Amie, a D-O-G, to do a meme. If Whistle is brave enough to be tagged by a D-O-G, then I guess I’m brave enough to do a meme.

Here are the rules:

  • Link to the person animal that tagged you
  • Post the rules on your blog
  • Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself
  • Tag six people animals and at the end of your post, link to their blogs
  • Let each person animal know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog
Here goes:

  1. My birthday is next week. It’s January 31st. I’ll be nine years young.
  2. I’m scared to death of heights, and I can’t jump very high, either, but I’m a good pretty fair okay climber.
  3. Being scared of heights is probably one reason I am afraid to let anyone pick me up. Except for Treater, my people are tall!
  4. I do not like to sit in anyone’s lap. Except maybe Napper’s lap, but only when he’s napping on the sofa.
  5. My people rescued me from an abusive situation when I was one year old.
  6. I love, love, love my special treats. Treater calls them “hairball treats.” I call ‘em “good!”

I don’t think I know six people animals to tag, but I’d like to tag Miss Kitty, NFC, and Tiggie, FOC. They’re my best blogging buddies in the whole world. If anybody else would like to play, please let me know! It’ll be fun!

Somebody came to my house today to replace some tiles. I really don't understand what he was doing, but it sure was noisy! I didn't like the noises and the strange smells, so I hid. Unfortunately, Treater and that shiny flashy box found my hiding spot.

My Award

That Miss Kitty! She is one cool cat! She has a friend, Black Rabbit, who lives in Finland. Black Rabbit's person, Neulekirppu, is learning to speak (and blog!) in English, and wanted to thank Miss Kitty and her person, The Red-Headed One, for inspiring her to do so.

Miss Kitty, in turn, has honored me by tagging me with the "You Make My Day" award. The rules say that we're supposed to tag 10 people who make our day, but I really am new to blogging and don't know all that many bloggers. The first blogger to inspire me was Tiggie, Faithful Orange Cat, but Miss Kitty has already tagged that handsome fellow (purrrrr).

So, I wish to tag the following three bloggers.

1. Fellow feline, Whistle, is a brilliant young fellow who subscribes to The New Yorker. Whistle aspires to experience the great outdoors someday. He shares a house with his people, and with Fish the Cat, Andy, Dubby, and Sister (a D-O-G). (Did I leave anybody out?)

2. Littlemankitty, is a handsome fellow who says he moved around a lot before he found his terrific home. I think he looks so dashing with that patch over his eye! I love reading how much his loves his mama, 'cause I love Treater and Napper, too.

3. I know this is not very cat-like of me, but I'm tagging a D-O-G! That's because Cub is a special D-O-G. She has been through a lot and has taken a lot of car trips that always end up at the vet's place. Oooh, that's scary. I think Cub is a brave gal, and I'm so inspired that she keeps going. I even pray for her.

I think I had better mention one other blogging kitty, my niece, Lala. Lala is also a contributor on my blog. She lives with her litter-mate, Willow, a fluff-ball named Racer, and the outside D-O-G, Lady. Her people are my human sister (Light, the redhead), and the big guy named Stretch. Light is busy with work and school, so Lala doesn't get much lap-time at the keyboard. If Lala wants to tag anyone, she can, but I understand that she's busy keeping everyone reined in at their place.

Thank you, Miss Kitty, for this honor. Whistle, LMK, and Cub, you are tagged!

I love Sportscenter!

Napper turns on the TV every morning while he gets ready to leave for the day for something he calls "work." I don't know anything about this "work" business, but he smells pretty interesting when he comes back. When I hear him come in the door, I come out from under the bed, 'cause that usually means we get to snuggle on the sofa with that wonderful purple blankie and nap!

Anyway, this morning, he turned on the TV, and left the room. I took over the remote control and started watching "Sportscenter" on ESPN. I love to watch basketball. I also like tennis and golf. I like the action in basketball and tennis, and in golf, I always hope to see those birdies that I hear chirping.

That's where you can find me most mornings - watching "Sportscenter." Today, I was fortunate enough to get the remote control first!

My name is Spooky!

Ah, this fits me to a T!

What Spooky Means

You are the total package - suave, sexy, smart, and strong.

You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know.

You don't always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don't have as much going for them as you do.

You are influential and persuasive. You tend to have a lot of power over people.

Generally, you use your powers for good. You excel at solving other people's problems.

Occasionally, you do get a little selfish and persuade people to do things that are only in your interest.

You are well rounded, with a complete perspective on life.

You are solid and dependable. You are loyal, and people can count on you.

At times, you can be a bit too serious. You tend to put too much pressure on yourself.

You are a seeker of knowledge, and you have learned many things in your life.

You are also a keeper of knowledge - meaning you don't spill secrets or spread gossip.

People sometimes think you're snobby or aloof, but you're just too deep in thought to pay attention to them.

You are a free spirit, and you resent anyone who tries to fence you in.

You are unpredictable, adventurous, and always a little surprising.

You may miss out by not settling down, but you're too busy having fun to care.

But it looked like grass!

Oooohhhh, I don't feel so good today.

Last night, Treater made the see-through wall disappear! She said she wanted to "air out the house." I don't know why...I think it smells like my house!

I love it when she opens that wall. It means I can sneak out and look for anoles around the pool. I don't like for my people to know when I go out, so I wait until the sun goes down.

There were no anoles anywhere. I think it's too cool for them still. So, I found the grass growing in one of the plant beds by the pool. Yum...snack time! Napper spotted me and called my name, so I ran back in. That's when I started throwing it back up. Treater followed me around, cleaning up after me, and fussed at me for eating something called "mondo grass." Hey, it's still grass!

Just for being fussed at, I left several gifts around the house for Treater to find this morning! I hope she'll still give me my treats.

I love catnip!

A gal's gotta get her exercise one way or another. I absolutely love my little catnip pillow!

Me! Me! Me!

Miss Kitty, who is a beautiful, fluffy-looking Norwegian Forest Cat, wrote all about her breed history. I do not have the long breed history that she does. Her ancestors were adventurers! What fun! Miss Kitty even has her own avocado tree to climb.

I'm a Snowshoe Siamese, which is a recent (1960s) breed - originally a cross between a Siamese and an American shorthair, and now we're all offspring of that cross. I have Sealpoint ears and tail, but my feet are white. My eyes are blue like my Siamese side but I don't talk as loud as my Siamese relatives. My white areas are whiter than any Siamese. There are several articles about my breed all over the Internet and even a club for our people.

My people rescued me from a place I did not like when I was one year old. The people I used to have were not very nice to me, so I'm still really afraid of strangers.

One more very important thing about me: my birthday is coming up. I will be nine years old on January 31st. I don't think I look a day over two. Right? Right?!

C-c-can't g-g-get warm....

I am a Florida Cat. We do not grow thick winter fur. If Treater turns the air in my house on too cold, I just go sprawl out in front of the see-through wall. That sunshine warms my fur and makes me sooo drowsy.

BUT...

It's cold in here. Treater turned the cold air inside off, but she won't turn on the warm air. Napper is taking a nap right now under the big fleece blankie, and I've tried getting warm on top of that blankie. He tries to convince me to go under it, but I don't like being picked up, sitting on laps, or getting under blankies!

The sunshine was coming in through the see-through wall, but it wasn't warm. I don't like this being cold. My little teeth are chattering. I think I see my kitty breath.

The guy inside the moving-picture box is telling all the people to put blankies on their plants outside. He says we're all going to freeze! I wonder if it will snow? Treater says that it "spit snow" on Thanksgiving Eve, but she doesn't think it will do it tonight. (Who spit the snow, I wonder?) The guy inside the moving picture box says it will be 28 tonight. I'm not sure what "28" means, but I don't think I'm gonna like it. I'm soooo c-c-cold!

News Flash: Treater just told me that the "wind chill" will be "20" tonight, so she'll turn on the warm air in the house! Yippee!

New Year's!!!! Let me sleep

Alright, so my aunt Spooky (what a cruel name) asked me to do some posting. So here it is. Let me introduce myself. My name is Lala, and I am one of 7 kittens from the same litter. I live with my litter-sis Willow, my adopted bro Racer, my mean owner-dad, Stretch, and my very understanding owner-mom, Light. (That's what they go by online, at least.) I should mention Lady, Stretch's lab. She lives outside, but we stare at each other through the window a lot.

BTW, I am sitting in mom's lap, and using my nose to hit her hands so she'll know what keys to press. If I purr a lot, she lets me stay here. Otherwise, she puts me on top of the monitor. She says my tail gets in her face too much. Heh.

After yet another week of traveling, Dad and Mom have FINALLY returned home. How did we celebrate? By sleeping and cuddlingly with them of course! They were playing Wii, and anytime they are on the couch, we just have to join them. Let me show you.

This is a picture of Willow laying on Stretch's lap. Sorta. She looks more like she's holding on to his leg so she doesn't fall between him and the pillows. She loves him. I do, too. Sorta. Sometimes. She's definitely his cat. Yeah, she's spoiled.

Willow is kinda mean sometimes, usually when she's hungry. She pushes me out of the way a lot. That's okay, cause I can beat her up when we wrestle.

Next, we have Racer. He's just a big fluff ball, or that's what Mom says. Racer makes a lot of noises. Mom says he sounds congested all the time and wheezes when he stretches or moves, or jumps, or rolls over, or looks up. Yeah. He has problems. He and I don't get along very well sometimes. Hey, it was my house first.

Racer can't jump very well. Mom rescued him when he was about 6 weeks old, and he had some health and physical problems. He's big now, and could probably beat me up. I make sure to whack him first before he can get me. Then I just find higher ground. Booyah.

And here's Lady. Dad went outside to play with her. The TV said it was going to be windy (35mph) today so he went to run her around. They run alot. Lady especially. She's funny. In this picture, she's playing fetch. She has a bright neon green softball, and an orange squeaky toy that is a dinosaur. She slobbers on them both. A lot.

She tends to destroy toys, I think. And she eats the little bone-shaped snacks. The bag is in the kitchen, and I like to stick my head in there and just smell. But I sure wouldn't eat one.

This is me. Yeah. Mom woke me up to take this picture. She got up off the couch (where I was warm) to find the camera. Grrrrr.

So there ya have it. That's the basics of my household. Mom is my best friend there. She understands my mood swings. Dad says I'm hormonal. Whatever. I'm just kinda picky. Alright?

Back to sleep.
