An award

Goldie and Shade have very kindly shared this lovely rose with me. I've never actually smelled a rose up close, but this one certainly is pretty. Treater said they have thorns that are sort of like my little kitty-razors. Hmmm, pretty roses have thorns. Pretty kitties have razors. Maybe we're related!

A red rose has a number of thorns in it, and when it pricks your finger it hurts.
Some days, life is just like a red rose, and sometimes life is not always a bed of roses.

Treater said that even though the rose's thorns may hurt me, they do not hurt the rose. Instead, the thorns are to protect the rose, just like my little razors protect me. She said she read somewhere once that when we walk with God, He is like a thorn to our enemies - He protects us and takes care of us...even us Cats. Nice.

I think I'm supposed to pass this award on to another kitty-blogger. I know so many deserving Cats that choosing one is nearly impossible. If you have been kind enough to visit with me, please accept this award...especially YOU, Tiggie!

Now that Treater and Napper are back again, I feel like relaxing. Ahhhh....

What?! What was that noise? What is disturbing my nap? I turned on my laser eyes, but I didn't see anything.

That's fine. I'll finish my nap now. TTFN!

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot: Happy Birthday, Napper!

Another weekend alone!

My people took those suitcases and left again yesterday. Since we moved, I have spent every single weekend alone in this new place. At least they leave plenty of food and water...but no Greenies. I have to wait for those until they get back.

They keep telling me they are just going back to our old place. It sounds to me like they're doing big things over there. I think I'm glad I'm here where it's quiet. They say things like "paint" and "carpet" and "cleaning" and so on. Lots of strange people coming in and going out, too...not something I care for. I'm not crazy about strangers.

Treater said they're selling my house. Too bad - that house had lots of hidey-places. This one just has one good hidey-place, and that's under the bed. There might be good places inside those rooms with the closed doors, but I haven't figured out how to get in there yet.

Meanwhile, I can sit in front of the glass wall and watch all those strange birds...turkeys, egrets, and herons. There are lots of the two-legged variety of critter that look like miniature versions of people. They sure do make a lot of noise. Every now and then, I hear and see woofies. Oh, yeah, and there are zillions of anoles! Like I said, there's a lot to watch to keep me occupied.

Treater said they'll be back tomorrow afternoon because they're going out to celebrate Napper's birthday with friends. They're meeting them in some place called Clearwater. I think Napper's birthday is Monday. He's really old. I think he'll be hundred-leventy-seven or something like that. I don't even want to think how old that would be in Cat years.

So, that's what I'm doing this weekend. What are you Hip Cats up to?

A limerick

Karen Jo writes limericks. She also tells about various breeds of Cats. I think she does a really good job, too.

Well, guess what? She wrote a limerick about Snowshoe Siamese Cats! That would be me...and a few lot of other Cats. You have to visit her and read her neat little stories and limericks.

Once again, I was alone all weekend. Treater disappeared early one morning and left Napper, but then he disappeared the next day. No big deal. I had LOTS of food and a clean litter box. I slept most of the weekend, too.

I had some entertainment, too, through the glass wall. There were LOTS of people out there, playing strange games and cooking good-smelling stuff, and making lots of noise. It helped the afternoon to pass quickly. Those little people sure do run around a lot and make a lot of noise.

Hmm, Treater just nudged me and told me that I might be using the word "lot" too much. I don't think so.

Harrumph. I think I'll go back to the dark place under the bed. TTFN.

Sad news

One of my favorite Dogs has gone home. Please visit her people and give them a hug.

Weep not for me though I am gone
into that gentle night.
Grieve if you will, but not for long
upon my soul's sweet flight.
I am at peace, my soul's at rest
there is no need for tears
For with your love, I was so blessed
for all those many years.
There is no pain, I suffer not
the fear now is all gone.
Put now these things out of your thoughts,
in your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath
remember not the strife
lease do not dwell upon my death
but celebrate my life.

One week later...

Treater has finally settled down at the computer for a few minutes and has agreed to help me write a post! I can't believe she made me wait a whole week!

Treater and Napper have been gone too much lately. She said they're trying to sell the house! What??! MY house? The one with the wonderful glass walls that let all the sunshine in? The one with the anoles that play with me through the glass walls? The one with the big round window that I like sitting in where I can watch Grace the Dog and that crazy orange cat? I don't want them to sell that house! This place they brought me to smells like other people, and it's full of boxes and stuff. I keep forgetting where the food bowls are and where the litter box is. I guess I'll get the hang of it.

Anyway, Treater told me to tell all you Cats (and Dogs) that she won't be able to help me very much this week with blogging, but she should be able to help me with visiting blogs. I'll try to sneak onto the computer while she's sleeping...maybe I can do some writing. She said we're not going away, we'll just be a little busy for a few days.

If I have to go very long without computing, I'll give her a nip when she least expects it. Perhaps leave her a "gift" or two around the place. I'll show her who's boss on this computer!

Hip Cat

I've been given an award!

This is so great! Even though my people go off and leave me all alone in a strange place for days at a time, someone else shows me that I am appreciated!

I think Goldie and Shade are two pretty cool bloggers (when the PM gets up early enough to let Goldie blog, that is) themselves, so that makes this award extra-special.

I think there are a lot of totally hip blogging Cats out there, but I think I'm supposed to pass this award along to three of them. Narrowing it down is tough!

1. Tiggie, FOC, the orange fellow who inspired me to blog
2. Junior, who is a pretty cool Meezer
3. Miss Kitty, NFC, who is a beautiful and elegant lady

By the way, Treater and Napper are back and the suitcases are no where to be seen. I wonder if that means they're staying? I played my part perfectly and stayed under the bed when they came in yesterday. I have snubbed them and refused to come out. However, if Treater pulls out the big guns (Greenies), I may have to give up the protest. Besides, I could really use a good ear-scritch right now.

Daggone it!

First, they leave me at the vet's for too long.

Then, they take me home to an empty house!

Then, they put me in that stupid carrier and we travel in the car for a long, long time. (Hey, any time spent in a carrier AND in a car is too long!)

Then, they lock me in a strange bathroom for a long time, and when they let me out, I find all of my missing furniture but it's all in a strange place!

Now, they've packed suitcases again and they are leaving me here! In a strange place! All alone!

I think we should have a Cat party here while they're gone. We can escape to the outside and try to catch those big white birds. Maybe a few anoles, too. I've had some interest from Junior and Goldie. Maybe my nieces Willow and Lala and my nephew Racer can come down. I hear their people will be gone, too.

Whaddaya think?

Another visitor

This new place might be interesting after all. We had another visitor this morning. I told Treater to hurry and get the camera, but she was all but too late. This Great Egret was walking across our patio, "visiting" with the fake cranes and pelican (they used to be by our pool in the house, but Treater dragged them here). When she got the camera, all she could get was this picture of the egret flying away. You can see a photo of the patio and two of the fake birds here on her blog.

By the way, I finally figured out where my litter box is. I haven't done such a good job of utilizing it since we've been here. They "hid" it in the bathroom of all places! It used to be in the laundry room at the house. As payback for hiding it, I took plenty of time to make sure everything in there was covered up, just like Johnny Cat - his people say that he's "digging to China." I think that's funny.

I'm going back to the glass wall now...looking for other interesting visitors. Then perhaps a long nap under the bed. As my distant cousin would say, "TTFN."

My first full day in a strange place

Yesterday was a better day. I finally figured out where my food bowl is, and Treater gave me some Greenies. Much better.

The view from down here is a bit intimidating. There are towering boxes everywhere, and getting around them is a bit tough. It's like walking through a maze since I cannot see over them. Treater keeps opening them and moving them around. This is a really strange place. I wonder how long we'll be here?

Yesterday I said that we had anoles and frogs. Later on yesterday, we had another strange visitor. I think Treater called it a "turkey." He came right up to the see-through wall! I think I'm very glad that wall was there...he was much bigger than me!

Treater also said that I cannot play outside because of the alligators that walk around by the pond. I'm sure glad I'm an inside cat.

I see big dogs pulling their people around, too. There are lots of little people that play in the big sandbox. Treater says that's a volleyball court, but it looks like a giant litter box to me. I saw a friendly-looking gray cat yesterday on my patio. I hope the alligator doesn't eat him.

All of this excitement is just too much at times. I have decided that my favorite retreat is under the bed...the same bed I always hid under at my house. It's nap time; I believe I'll head there now. Later.
