Celebrating?

Something happens tonight called a "new year." I'm not sure what that means to us cats, but Treater and Napper said they are staying home to celebrate with me. I wonder how we'll celebrate? Catnip daiquiris?

The tall kid came over to visit. He is okay, but he always picks me up. I don't like being picked up. I thought he would leave me alone this time, but he got me from behind and picked me up. I was asleep, dagnabbit! He talked to me, and he talked about my little bitty razors. Hmm, maybe I should have used them to get away. I had to shake and shake to get my fur back in place. At least Eve didn't come with him this time.

Napper has been watching stuff on TV all afternoon. That's okay when the people throwing and bouncing balls aren't his team, but when they are, my ears get abused. He yells and waves his arms and sometimes paces...too loud and scary and dangerous for a little kitty to be around.

So much for a good nap on the big sofa. I'm going to curl up under the big chair.

Happy New Year, everybody!

It's about time!

Treater finally got on the ball and uploaded a few photos that she took this week. She said it was because she was sick. I think it was just an excuse.

I thought I'd pose for the camera. Treater forgot to make it flash.

This was early on Christmas morning (before the D-O-G arrived). I think everybody was still up because they were waiting to see Santa Paws.

I look pretty relaxed, don't I? No one told me that, in just a few hours, Eve the D-O-G would be here, and that I'd be trapped on the other side of that door behind me for the whole day!

Santa Paws left a really pretty piece of paper that smells awfully strange. Treater says it came from some other place called "Australia." I never heard of that place. That paper has a sticker on it that says, "To Vicki, From Carolanne." Wonder who they are? I really like the way it smells and the way it slides around on the floor. It makes a pretty cool sound. Thanks, Santa! I really like my gift!

Maybe next year I could go visit some of my friends (I hear I missed a great party at Tiggie and Hart's house) instead of being shut up in a room because of a D-O-G.

This is so unfair!

It's MY house. They're MY people. It's MY puny Christmas tree. It's just not right.

Red and Stretch are here. They're okay, but the tall guy who picks me up came, too, and he brought Eve, the D-O-G! I got sent to the bedroom. I wanted to play with the wrapping paper. I wanted to watch my people.

Instead, the D-O-G gets to run around the house and play with the people.

I want her to leave. I want out. Life is so unfair!

Merry Christmas!

Treater thought I should wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.

She woke me up from a nap to have me do this.

Merry Christmas!

We were there!

And we were bearing "gifts."

Kitty rant

Napper says I'm all about energy conservation.
Whatever.
I'm just trying to get a nap here.

(Notice those red eyes? That's proof that I'm Siamese...at least partly.)

Meowy Christmas!

Treater says that she doesn't have time to help me with my blogging this week. She said I'd better wish all my feline and canine friends (canines can be friends?) a very Merry Christmas today, because I won't be blogging for a week or so. Unless, that is, one of my nieces or nephew decides to write a post (hint, hint!).

So far, I have not seen anything under that puny little tree (it's not good for climbing or hiding beneath!) that has my name on it. Are these people going to get me anything, or do I need to start leaving them little "reminders" around the house?

I hear that Lala, Willow, Racer, and Lady's people are coming for a short visit. I wish the airplane people would let my nieces and nephew come with them. I'd like to meet them...I think. I used to like the person with the red hair. I loved curling up in her bed. Now she has a really, really tall person that always hangs around. Harrumph.

Well, anyway, that's all for now. I hope Santa Paws brings all us good kitties lots of treats, leather strings, and catnip for Christmas. Purrrrrr...

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Ooooh....I found my presents under the tree! Treater put a whole big bunch of paper under there. It's all pretty and makes really cool noises when you hit it running and sliiiiiiiide across the room. It crinkles so nicely against the wall! It feels very expensive and even holds up - well, sort of - nicely to my kitty claws. I'm gonna have a lot of fun playing with this paper!

My Friday

What do I plan to do all day today? This:

After all, Treater and Napper will be home all weekend...working. I've got to rest up for it.

Well, I did get a little quality ear-scritching last night:

See the paint on Napper's finger? That's what he's been doing after work every day. He said he'll get finished on Saturday. I just sit at the see-through wall and watch. I think he scared away all of the anoles.

I have invited my nieces and nephew to contribute to my blog. I sure hope to hear from them soon. I've never met them in real life (well, except for Eve, but I'm usually under the bed when I hear her coming). Maybe I'll hear from them real soon.

Now, back to the really important business of the day: nap time!

Not a good idea

Glow-in-the-dark cats? I don't think that's such a good idea. We need to be able to sneak up on things in the dark, like mice, and people's toes. If we glowed, we'd be at a disadvantage. It is bad enough that cats are glowing, but people are cloning cats to make them glow. I could not believe what Treater was reading to me! The story is here.

Fog

I heard Napper and Treater talking about "fog" this morning. Whatever that is. All I know about fog is that a human named Mr. Sandburg wrote a little poem about it. I like the poem because it says that this "fog" is like a cat. Cool...er, I mean, purrrrrr.

Fog

The fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

A dog's life?

What's this? Barney gets his own Christmas video? Why isn't there a First Cat? If they serve better treats at the White House, I'll volunteer to be the First Cat. Surely I can find someone there who likes to nap with a cat.
Note from Treater: If that link above doesn't work, you can go here and choose your viewing format under "Watch the latest Barney Cam." This is a cleaner video.

My Tuesday...so far

I know my fans blog-readers want to know what I've been doing all day. I spent a little time at Blondie's place watching Hart spin the dreidel and Tiggie dance and sing with Bernie. What fun!

Mostly, though, I've been asleep under the big chair. When Napper came home, I stretched and asked him how his day was. Then I followed him around because we usually take a nap together after a hard day of work. Instead, he changed clothes and went outside to work some more. Pshaw.

So, I crawled under the rocking chair next to my cat afghan (with the dangly string on it!) where I can watch Napper work and Treater cook.

That's where I am right now. I don't know what's going on this evening. I heard Napper ask Treater if it was okay to postpone (whatever that means) their special evening tomorrow until this weekend. He wants to finish working outside before the rain comes this week.

My Monday

This has been a great day. Napper left for work, and a few minutes later, Treater left. I don't know where she went, but she never leaves that early. She was gone all morning. I had the place to myself.

I played with my leather string.

I nibbled.

I sat at the see-through wall watching for anoles. I could not find one. I wonder where they have gone?

I walked across the table.

I curled up in Napper's spot on the sofa (it wasn't warm).

Treater was gone so long that I was afraid she was not coming back, so...I left her a "gift" on the floor. I made it all by myself. Sure hope she likes it.

Finally, I heard someone come in. Oh, darn. It was just Eve's person. He always looks for people chow and tries to pick me up and then leaves.

When he was leaving, I heard Treater come in...ugh, she brought another person with her. I don't like this lady. She always tries to get me close to her, but I won't. Instead, I'll just sit and look at her, just like this:

She's gone now. I'm going for another nap. I hear Treater fussing about my gift.

Proof

It has been passed down through Cat History that one of our very own was an eye witness to a very historical moment. Here's proof.

The white stick

My people are so annoying. All this gal wants is a little attention...a scritch behind the ears, a good brushing, and a treat now and then.

I thought they were settling down on the big sofa last night, so I got up between them. Perfect scritching and brushing opportunity! Treater pulled out that white stick and started pushing buttons. Things started moving around on the talking picture box. I got down to catch those things. Drats...they are behind the glass. Then Treater got up and started hopping and jumping and swinging that white stick all around. I had to run for cover and hide under the rocking chair! Then Napper got up and started doing the same thing! After a long time, I finally had to tell them that it was time for the long nap.

Then, this morning, Napper just wouldn't stay put long enough for a good scritch. Like most mornings, he goes out that very interesting door and leaves for a long time. But today, I had to run and hide again when he left. Treater laughed at him and told me that it was okay. She said Napper forgot to turn off the alarm first. Boy was that loud! Treater gave me some of my favorite treats and rubbed me to calm me down. Hey, I'm a cat...how much calmer do you think I'll get?

Too much excitement. I'm off for my morning nap.

History lesson

I visited Whistle's blog today and learned something very important in American Cat History. This is a Big Day for us cats. It is "Knock Something Big Over Day." Please visit Whistle and study today's lesson. Then put it into practice.

I'm circling throughout the house...looking for something big to knock over. Treater and Napper are packing everything up. I can't find anything...oh, I'm so frustrated.

What?

Why did Treater call me out of a nap? And why is she following me around with that shiny box that flashes?

If she's not handing out treats, then I'm outta here. I have a nap to finish.

~ ~ ~

Oh, bother. That tall human who sometimes brings Eve over to visit spent all afternoon yesterday in my house playing some pretty loud noise that he calls "music." At least he didn't try to pick me up like he usually does.

The tree

Every year, Treater and Napper bring in a tree. I am not allowed to climb it, nor am I allowed to play with the shiny toys on it. I still like to pretend that I'm outside and I try to hide beneath it. Can you see me? I hope not!

Listen, and I shall speak

I am a quiet cat.

I speak when Treater forgets to serve me in the mornings.

I speak when it's bedtime.

I speak when Napper comes home from work; he's had a hard day and so have I. I am ready for a nap, so he must oblige.

If I have something to say, I will. Otherwise, I expect that Treater will publish photos of my moods and mewsings for all the world to see.
