I am sad

Please pardon my long absence from my blog. This has been an unusally eventful summer around here. It's a long story, and I may tell all about it later. Right now, my heart hurts.

My heart has been sick lately. The V.E.T. did not like the way my heart sounded, so he sent me and Treater to a cat-cardiologist. They took pictures of my heart (among other things!!!) and put me on special medicine. He said my heart was huge. I thought a big heart was good, but not in this case. He also said there was a lot of fluid around my heart. I had to take three pills a day! I went back last week for more pictures of my heart and the V.E.T. was very surprised and said my heart almost looks normal! Now I just take two pills a day.

I felt better...for a short time. Now my heart hurts again.

My very bestest cyber-friend...my inspiration for this blog...has been very sick, too. Tiggie FOC (that means Faithful Orange Cat) had some surgery a couple of weeks ago, but it did not help him get better. Blondie and Bernie had to make a hard choice yesterday, and they helped Tiggie cross the Bridge. Now Tiggie feels better, and is romping with his old friends, Mac and Tidbit, and a lot of other friends, too.

Treater and Napper went to visit Blondie and Bernie and Tiggie and Hart a couple of months ago. Treater took this picture of Tiggie for me (beautiful, isn't he?). He didn't feel very good here.

It's a sad day when a cat leaves his people. Please purray for his family...they are sad.

So am I.

Party wrap-up

Wow…what a party we had! Is anybody still here? I haven’t checked all of the hidey places yet – someone may have fallen asleep somewhere.

I wanted to thank Daisy for her fantastic Circus stunts – who knew that a clothesline could be put to such use (I loved that tutu, Daisy!)? Everyone pitched in with some great ‘nip toys, cat milk, and treats, too. My supply of Greenies is sadly depleted. Treater wondered how I managed to eat them all (wink) and said she’ll run out for more this afternoon. A few guests managed to overdo the ‘nip and had to settle into a corner or under a chair with their blankies for the night, but that’s okay. The anoles came out bright and early each morning, so we shook off the grogginess and got our exercise chasing anoles.

We missed a few guests:

  • Padme was grounded for “eating mommy’s flowers” and returning them “later on the family room carpet.”
  • Tiggie and Hart couldn’t come because poor Blondie was in the hospital and they had to hold down the fort. Get well soon, Blondie! The boys miss you!
  • Goldie and Shade were busy snoopervising the yardwork, and Goldie is seriously trying to find a way to convince the PM that he needs to “check out” those new baby robins.

But, we had lots of cool cats here and we partied all weekend. I especially want to thank Junior, Samantha and Mr. Tigger for staying behind to help with the clean-up. Treater and Napper never suspected a thing.

Let's do it again...soon!

Cub gave me an award!

Cub may be a D-O-G, but she's a very nice one. She even gave me an award. She's trying to be extra-nice online, since she says she isn't very good with Cats in real life. I really appreciate getting this award from her!

I think there are some really nice Cats and maybe even other D-O-G-S (at least online!) out there. I'd like to recognize three of them.

First of all, Tiggie, Faithful Orange Cat inspired me to start blogging. He's a handsome orange fellow who positively glows in the sunshine. He's an expert on many things, including napping and dancing.

Next, a really beautiful Lady Cat is Miss Kitty, Norwegian Forest Cat. She is also an expert in napping (we're all Cats, so that goes without saying!) and avocado tree-climbing.

Lastly, I'd like to recognize The Ginger Cats. They get to take fascinating walks and write so poetically about their wanderings. They live in a far-off place called Wales. Reading their blog is better than traveling in real life (I don't like cat carriers and I don't like cars)!

Thank you, Cub, thank you very much!

Whistle's meme

Whistle was tagged by Amie, a D-O-G, to do a meme. If Whistle is brave enough to be tagged by a D-O-G, then I guess I’m brave enough to do a meme.

Here are the rules:

  • Link to the person animal that tagged you
  • Post the rules on your blog
  • Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself
  • Tag six people animals and at the end of your post, link to their blogs
  • Let each person animal know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog
Here goes:

  1. My birthday is next week. It’s January 31st. I’ll be nine years young.
  2. I’m scared to death of heights, and I can’t jump very high, either, but I’m a good pretty fair okay climber.
  3. Being scared of heights is probably one reason I am afraid to let anyone pick me up. Except for Treater, my people are tall!
  4. I do not like to sit in anyone’s lap. Except maybe Napper’s lap, but only when he’s napping on the sofa.
  5. My people rescued me from an abusive situation when I was one year old.
  6. I love, love, love my special treats. Treater calls them “hairball treats.” I call ‘em “good!”

I don’t think I know six people animals to tag, but I’d like to tag Miss Kitty, NFC, and Tiggie, FOC. They’re my best blogging buddies in the whole world. If anybody else would like to play, please let me know! It’ll be fun!

Somebody came to my house today to replace some tiles. I really don't understand what he was doing, but it sure was noisy! I didn't like the noises and the strange smells, so I hid. Unfortunately, Treater and that shiny flashy box found my hiding spot.

My Award

That Miss Kitty! She is one cool cat! She has a friend, Black Rabbit, who lives in Finland. Black Rabbit's person, Neulekirppu, is learning to speak (and blog!) in English, and wanted to thank Miss Kitty and her person, The Red-Headed One, for inspiring her to do so.

Miss Kitty, in turn, has honored me by tagging me with the "You Make My Day" award. The rules say that we're supposed to tag 10 people who make our day, but I really am new to blogging and don't know all that many bloggers. The first blogger to inspire me was Tiggie, Faithful Orange Cat, but Miss Kitty has already tagged that handsome fellow (purrrrr).

So, I wish to tag the following three bloggers.

1. Fellow feline, Whistle, is a brilliant young fellow who subscribes to The New Yorker. Whistle aspires to experience the great outdoors someday. He shares a house with his people, and with Fish the Cat, Andy, Dubby, and Sister (a D-O-G). (Did I leave anybody out?)

2. Littlemankitty, is a handsome fellow who says he moved around a lot before he found his terrific home. I think he looks so dashing with that patch over his eye! I love reading how much his loves his mama, 'cause I love Treater and Napper, too.

3. I know this is not very cat-like of me, but I'm tagging a D-O-G! That's because Cub is a special D-O-G. She has been through a lot and has taken a lot of car trips that always end up at the vet's place. Oooh, that's scary. I think Cub is a brave gal, and I'm so inspired that she keeps going. I even pray for her.

I think I had better mention one other blogging kitty, my niece, Lala. Lala is also a contributor on my blog. She lives with her litter-mate, Willow, a fluff-ball named Racer, and the outside D-O-G, Lady. Her people are my human sister (Light, the redhead), and the big guy named Stretch. Light is busy with work and school, so Lala doesn't get much lap-time at the keyboard. If Lala wants to tag anyone, she can, but I understand that she's busy keeping everyone reined in at their place.

Thank you, Miss Kitty, for this honor. Whistle, LMK, and Cub, you are tagged!
