Junior tagged me for a meme this morning. Since I haven’t had much to blog about recently (I’ve been sleeping a lot lately), I’m glad to have something to think and write about.
This is called the “Three Names Meme.” This is taken from a poem written by T. S. Eliot called, “The Naming of Cats.” It’s in his book “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats.” According to Mr. Eliot, we all have three names (his poem is very funny – you should read it!). You must list the rules to play along with this meme, and they are:
First of all, there's the name that the family use daily,
Such as Peter Augustus, Alonzo or James,
Such as Victor or Jonathan, George or Bill Bailey - -
All of them sensible everyday names.
But I tell you, a cat needs a name that's particular,
A name that's peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can he keep up his tail perpendicular,
Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride?
But above and beyond there's still one name left over,3. Then, tag three cats (and let them know they are tagged) to give us their three names.
And that is the name that you never will guess;
The name that no human research can discover - -
But THE CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess.
...[that] Deep and inscrutable singular Name.
So, without further adieu, here are my three names:
2. Spooky THE Cat
3. She who happily snoozes beneath the ottoman and dreams of anoles and Greenies.
Now, I've got to tag three other cats. I choose...
1. Tiggie, FOC
2. Miss Kitty
