Uh-oh

This is not good.

I see a suitcase.

Treater told me this was my last chance to say anything to all of my Cat furriends for the rest of the year!

The REST of the YEAR??!!

This does not sound good.

I wonder how long the rest of the year is? I wonder how long my people will be gone? I don't like being left alone.

I guess I'll be back 'next year.'

This is not good.

The Face-Off

I survived.

I actually survived a face-off with Eve, the Wookiee Woofie!

The Tall Guy (Who Did Not Get to Pick Me Up This Time!!) brought Eve over for Christmas Day. She's something called an American pit bull terrier. My people actually like her. Everybody was pretty good about keeping that woofie away from me, even though it meant that we had to take turns being shut up in one of the bedrooms.

However, one time, The Tall Guy forgot that I was out - I was having my dinner - and he opened the bedroom door and let Eve out. I was cornered!

I froze. Eve froze. I bushed up bigger than I've ever bushed up in my almost-ten-years and I started my Scary Sideways Dance. Eve kept trying to run and hide! She would back up as I would dance closer and closer to her! Finally, Eve looked at The Tall Guy for help, and that gave me the break I needed. I scooted past her and right into my bedroom.

Whew. No blood shed. No one got scratched. No bodies. I was afraid, but I didn't let on to Eve...and I scared her!

There is no way that Eve and I will ever be like this dog and cat (click on picture for video link).

The good life @ Yahoo! Video

Here's a picture of Eve. She and Napper were playing, but Eve kept looking at The Tall Guy. I think she was afraid that he would go off and leave her.

All in all, it wasn't too horribly bad. I survived and I have my place back. Eve left.

One thing really upset me, however. The footstool by Treater's chair is mine! That's where I nap and where I watch TV. That's where I sit and stare pitifully at Treater begging for a scritch or a treat. Look who's napping on MY footstool!

It still smells like a woofie.

The Visitors

Treater and Napper have been extra-busy lately. I think that flashing, blinking fake tree might have something to do with it. Stuff keeps piling up under and around it. That stuff has blocked my short-cut from my napping place to my hiding place. That might be a bad thing...

...especially after what I heard last night. I think the Tall Guy Who Always Picks Me Up is coming to visit. I also think he's bringing Eve. Remember Eve? She's the woofie who sounds like a Wookiee.

I don't care what she sounds like or how much my people like her, she's a D-O-G and she's coming to MY territory!

I think I need to take a quick vaCATion...soon. Any Cat out there who'd like some company? I'll bring the Greenies and Temptations and my fishie (I found it again) and my springy green worm.

Oh, yeah...
Meowy Christmas, EveryCat!!

The little cat

I live in something called an "apartment." That means that we have neighbors who live really, really close.

There's a big-sounding woofie next door. Sometimes I hear him bark. Treater says he's a really, really, really big dog and he makes her nervous.

Then, there are the people across the breezeway from us. They have birds. Well, they did. One bird got out, and we saw a hawk swoop it up and take off with it. It made the people sad. It made me sad, too...I think that birdie could have been my plaything friend.

Anyone, the little girl who lives there wanted a Cat. Smart girl! So, her parents got Eden a kitten. Eden calls her "Bebe." She's a floofy-tailed calico. Bebe doesn't like to stay in the apartment. Treater and Eden's mom were in the breezeway yesterday talking and then they both opened the apartment doors to go inside. Bebe ran out of her door and into MINE! Treater snatched her up and brought Bebe to me. I wanted to sniff and make friends, but Bebe started spitting and growling and then she scratched Treater and ran right out our door and into her own door!

Later, Eden took Bebe outside to play in "the beach" with all of the other girls who live in our apartment. The beach is right in front of my big window. I tried to let Treater know that I wanted to play in the beach, too, but she just will not let me outside. Treater went outside with the flashy box and took a movie of Bebe playing in the sand.

Note from Treater: "The beach" is actually the sand volleyball court. Since it's located next to the pool and it's full of white sand, the residents have dubbed it the beach.

Birdday?

I think I finally figured out why Treater has been so grumpy lately.

I'm not sure what a "birdday" is, but she said she's having one today. If she's getting a bird today, I sure want one, too. If she's not happy about it, maybe she'll just give me hers.

I'm going to have to investigate this further.

Any thoughts?

I missed it!

Oh, no!!! I cannot believe this!

I missed my first blogaversary!

Actually, it's Treater's fault. She just would not sit with me and take dictation. She claims she is busy. Hah. It's probably more like 'lazy.'

My one-year blogaversary was five days ago...my first-ever post was December 5, 2007.

I wanted to celebrate!
I wanted to party!
I wanted to post!

Well, at least I think I'll celebrate by watching the anoles. It's really warm outside again, so they're playing on the patio and teasing me. I'm trying hard to get through the glass wall to snatch one.

When I'm through with that, I'll nap. Then I'll run around and visit all my buds in cyberspace. Perhaps I'll take another nap. Or two.

Have a great day, Everycat!

Whoo-hoooo! One year and counting!!

Sunny days

I know the weather is getting cooler in most places, but it's not so cool here. Well, maybe just a bit.

There is one big advantage to the shorter days. The sun is lower in the sky! That means it now shines into our 'partment! I've been spending my days basking in the warm sunshine, safely away from anyone's feet.

There is also a disadvantage to the somewhat cooler days. Those anoles must be hibernating. I don't see 'em much anymore.

Oh, well. The sun is warming my furs *yawn* and making me... so... very... sleeeepyyyyzzzzz.

I took a test

I know, I know, I know. I've been a really lazy cat. I like my naps - what can I say?

Actually, I probably could do a little dictation if Treater would just settle down with me for a bit. I think her busyness probably has to do with that little blurpy boy that will be coming to live with Lala's family.

I did manage to get Treater to do this fun little "test." It analyzes your blog and tells who wrote it. This one was ALL WRONG. Here's what it says:

We guess http://mewsingsbyspooky.blogspot.com is written by a woman (53%), however it's quite gender neutral.

Yeah, right. It was written by a cat! I guess they were sort of close. I'm a woman cat.

Update: After I wrote this post, I analyzed this blog again. Now it says that they're guessing 51% that it was written by a man! Methinks think they are just randomly guessing!

The Copy-Cat, er...Copy-Dog

Last week, Treater and Napper went back to the old house. My brother, the tall guy who always picks me up, is living there with Eve. Eve is a D.O.G. I didn't like it whenever she came to visit. I had to stay under the bed. I guess it's a good thing that Eve really doesn't know what a Cat smells like or she would have been snuffling under the bed after me.

I don't like it when Treater and Napper come back smelling like Eve. Peeee-yoooooo!

I also wasn't very happy to find out that Eve likes playing "King of the Mountain" on MY stairs! These stairs can be fun, and I liked peeking down from the top.

To make matters worse, now she's learning to make Laser Eyes just like me.

What next, will she start licking her paw and bathing her face?

To jump...or not...?

Can you see me?

I've never been much of a jumper, and I'm not crazy about climbing, either. Usually I just stay close to the ground.

The second picture is pretty blurry, but if you can't see me in the first picture, you'll find me in the second one.

What am I doing? I'm contemplating. Do I really want to jump across from the table to the kitchen counter...or not?

There's a lot of stuff on the counter.

Stuff in the way.

Interesting stuff.

Perhaps fresh water or a forbidden morsel of something to eat.

I sat here for a very long time before I finally decided...

No.

I didn't jump.

By the way, the people are leaving me again for the weekend. Something about having to clean the house-that's-still-for-sale. I sure wish someone with a nice cat family would buy it so that my folks would just stay here with me. Anyway, anyone wanna teleport over to spend the weekend with me? I've got Greenies AND Temptations! (I think I've made them feel guilty about leaving me so often.)

My Kentucky Kin

Last week, Treater and Napper went lots of places. One place they went was to visit my human sister, Light, and her hubby, Stretch. Stretch is doing very good after his strokes and heart surgery. He still gets tired easily, and is still on medication, but he looks good. My human sister is expecting a blurpy one in a few months, so she gets tired, too. Sounds like good napping opps there, huh?

Instead, Treater and Napper and Stretch and Light spent their time together fixing up the house and doing some shopping. They are getting ready for that little critter who will be coming to live there.

Treater said she went outside in the early mornings to check on Lala, Willow, and Racer. She took these pictures in the dark and was surprised that they turned out okay. Lala and Willow are in the top picture. Big, floofy Racer is in the bottom picture.

I think Lala is too busy chasing field mice and exploring the barn to do any posting. Maybe one of these days she'll talk about her adventures.

Cold equals ... fun?!

It's really cold here in Florida. Treater said the temperature last night was "in the 30s" ... whatever that means. Yesterday, Treater thought she would air out the apartment by opening the sliding door and a couple of windows.

Guess who was happy?

All that fresh air coming in ... a nice place to perch ... and - free entertainment!!

An anole somehow sneaked in through the sliding door screen! Boy, am I ever having fun! Best of all, it's still inside and Treater can't find it.

Hee hee hee. I'm not telling!

Snuggling and cuddling

My people are home!

Treater and Napper didn't leave me forever!!

A very nice lady named Lori took good care of me, but she didn't sleep over here. I did not have anyone to snuggle and cuddle with. I liked Lori so much that I only urped one time!

Treater and Napper came back this afternoon. I'm so, so, so happy!

Guess what? Best of all?! Right now, Napper is napping and I'm snuggling and cuddling with him.

Tuesday, October 14, 2008

No worries

All is well here. I haven't vanished, nor have I run away. Nor has anything bad happened over here.

Can't say the same for Treater and Napper, however. It seems they "ran away" again. They got back last night after a loooooong weekend away. I think they were back at the old place, 'cause they smelled like a woofie when they came in. I was so happy to see them that I ran up to Treater and followed her everywhere... then I caught a scent of woofie. I'm sure they were disloyal to me and played with Eve, my niece dog. I was an especially good lady cat and I never once urped while they were gone!! Nothing!

Well, anyway, they're back...for a couple of days.

Yes, they are leaving again. This time for longer than a weekend. A nice lady who works in the office is going to check on me while they're gone. That's a good thing, 'cause I kept hearing "vet" and "boarding" whenever they talked about me. I'm happy that I'll get to stay home. Maybe I can convince her to give me more Greenies than I usually get.

So, I'll be doing lots of napping and watching the action outside the glass wall. Other than that, it'll be pretty quiet around here for a while. Come visit if you can. It'll be fun!

A nap, a little rain, and an award

Lately, I've enjoyed some really great naps. Usually, I'm on the beach-towel-covered footstool next to Treater's chair. Sometimes I'm in the big chair in the corner of the big bedroom. Sometimes I'm in my new hidey-place (see my previous post).

No matter where I am, I just wanna be left alone. No Iraqi cats here to worry about (at least, I don't think so).

I don't know why Treater thinks it's necessary to take my picture while I'm sleeping. I'm just sleeping, for Pete's sake! That flashy thing always wakes me up.

I'm not usually too thrilled about it, either. (Personal note to Lala's mommy: Treater says to ignore all the stuff in the background of the picture below; you'll get part of it in a couple of weeks and you'll get the rest in a few months.)

Then she started talking about the rain that was coming down. She called it a real gullywasher! She said it's a good thing because it hasn't rained in several weeks and we need it. I'm not sure who "we" refers to, but it certainly isn't me! I don't need the rain.

I guess the rain was a small distraction for her, because Treater then told me that I needed to catch up on some old business. Last week, Junior and Orion gave me this award. I'm not quite sure what it means, but an award is a good thing. Here's the award:

And here are the instructions that came with it:
"With the Premium Dardos, recognize the values that each blogger shows each day in commitment to transmit cultural values, ethical, literary, personal etc. that, in short, demonstrate their creativity by alive thinking that remains intact from their letters and words."
I think that's a rough translation from the original Portugeuse in which it was first written. I've seen this award on lots of blogs, so I won't tag anyone, but if you haven't received it and would like it, please share the honor with me and let me know.

Thank you, Junior and Orion, for thinking of me!

Now, I shall return to my nap. It's raining again, with lots of thunderbooms and lightning flashes. Perfect napping weather!

Another hiding place

Sometimes, you just have to find a good hiding place in order to get a nap and stay warm.

Treater keeps telling me that it's HOT outside, but I have to stay inside with them where they inside on keeping it COLD. I do not care for this thing called air conditioning.

So, I found a good place to hide. And nap. And stay warm.

This is the TV in the bedroom. Notice anything?

Look closely now...see anything anyone yet?

I just wanna sleep...

Gee, I've been one lazy cat! It's been a whole week since I was here.

I've just been sleeping.
A lot.

I sleep all night next to Treater.
I go right back to sleep on my footstool after my morning treats and sleep until Napper comes home from work.

I just don't have any energy to do anything but sleep.
I don't even feel like playing with my toys.

Treater thinks I'm sick.

I think I'm just lazy.

Birdies

Treater and Napper left me alone for three whole days and three whole nights! They're back now, but I sure did leave them plenty of urpies to clean up! However, I decided not to tip over my water bowls since I made plenty of messes for them.

Treater said she saw lots of birds - big and small - and when she went to the beach one evening, she "captured" some birdies for me! You can listen to them if you turn up the sound. (You can also hear the wind and the water, but I wasn't too keen on all that water.)

Treater also brought me a picture of some really big birds called pelicans. They like to sit by the water and gulp up the fish.

Hmmm...

Guilt trip

This isn't good, but it may be a good way to get my point across. See what you think. Should I?

Treater and Napper are leaving me alone for three nights, starting tonight. I have a great big food dispenser and matching water dispenser. Treater filters all of my drinking water so that I only get the good stuff. She also said she's gonna look into buying me a better catfood for my sensitive tummy when she goes to the pet store, like maybe the one that Misty from The Crew suggested in the comments on this post.

Treater filled my food dispenser after scrubbing it clean. Then she scrubbed and filled my water dispenser...but it kept glugging and glugging...and soon all of the water was all over the floor!

Somehow, it got cracked! It's too late for her to run out and buy a new one, so guess what she did? She put three big water bowls out!

First of all, I really don't like being alone. Secondly, I'm also not too keen on all of those water bowls. I mean, what if I accidentally spill one...or two?

I could drink all my water by the time they get back, and "accidentally" spill any that's left...then play 'possum on the floor and act like I'm dying of thirst!

Can you say "guilt trip?"

CATching up on old business

Treater insists that she has been pretty busy lately. Too busy to take dictation for me. Well, in protest, I have kept her extra busy. I've had a "funny tummy" lately, and things just aren't settling well, so I've been urping some major hairballs on a regular basis for her to find. I'm still not feeling well, and I'm letting her know by leaving tufts of fur around the place.

I'm really going to have to protest this week. Those daggone suitcases have reappeared! I do not like this one bit. I'm snooping around to find out when the suitcases (and Treater and Napper) will be heading out the door again. I foresee some major urpy protests!

Anyway, it's been a long time now, but Fin and Misty were kind enough to leave me an award!

Here are the rules: We are supposed to give this award to five friends. Four of these friends must be dedicated followers of our blog. (Lala and I are dedicated followers of each other's posts - does that count?) Anyway, one should be given to a new blogger who lives in a different part of the world. Each awardee must link back to whomever gave the award.

I've been looking and looking, and it looks like everyone already has this award! Is that what happens when Treater isn't very timely with helping me? Well, in my opinion, everyone who follows my blog deserves this award for being faithful enough to keep checking to see if Treater is doing her duty and assisting me. If you read this and you don't have this award, please consider yourself honored! I thank you - each and every one of you - who take the time to stop by and visit with me!

Oh, I need to report, too, that Tiggie and Hart made their escape. They are still getting acclimated to life on the outside [of that prison camp], but maybe they'll tell us about their new digs soon. I hear they've moved pretty near my friend, Junior. That's really cool!

The Cat Meme

I saw this meme over at Padme and Delenn's momma's blog. It looked like fun, so I thought I'd try it. I'm not gonna tag anycat, but if you'd like to play, too, please leave me a comment!

Here's the rules:
1. Any animal can play, except human beings, cuz they do their own memes! Thank you very much!
2. If you play be sure and tag another pet pal to play and be sure they know they got tagged.
3. Answer the nine questions (duh, nine lives, nine questions).
4. Be honest.
5. Let people know you played too!

Here we go....
1. Favorite place to nap? Nighttime: next to Treater's pillow; Daytime: on Treater's footstool.
2. Favorite past time? Napping, eating, enjoying the occasional 'nip.
3. Favorite treat? Greenies and those yummy hairball treats!
4. Indoor or outdoor preference? Well, I've never really been outdoors, and that's a big and scary place, so I'll say indoors.
5. How did you come to live with your peeps? I was rescued from the shelter when I was one year old. I was abused by the people that I used to live with.
6. Litter box, tree or fire hydrant? Litter box...unless I'm trying to make a point.
7. Best toy you ever got? Hmm, that would probably be the little springy toy with a 'nip-filled head.
8. Sleep in or early riser? Early!
9. Wish for all the world? That every kitty has a safe and warm home with lots of love and lots of food.

Tuesday, September 9, 2008

Whoa!

Hoooooo, boy, was that ever a party! It's Tuesday and I still haven't recovered.

I really enjoyed having everyone over. We did a super job of trashing the place. However, I think we may have gone a bit too far. Treater claims there is no way that I could have created all of those hairballs by myself. I think we've been found out.

Lotsa kitties were here to party and keep me company. We had nip, feather balls, fresh grass, Temptations and Greenies, shrews (I've never seen a shrew before now), lots of paper things to shred, and even some beverages were provided: niptinis and Dom Niptognon. Thanks to everyone that was here.

Besides trashing the place and sleeping on the pillows, we played several games of "Chase the shrews" and "Thundering Herd of Elephants" (I'm really good at that one), and we had a "Hurl the Hairball" contest. After all the yummies and those beverages, I lost track of who was hurling what. I'm still not sure who won that contest.

While my folks were away, I was given an award - twice! Thanks, Misty and Fin. Treater says she'll help me post that later. I think she's still mad at me for trashing the place.

I really feel bad that Tiggie and Hart couldn't make it to my party, but they're in a really bad situation! They're POWs! There's an underground movement trying to get them freed. Miss Kitty wasn't able to come, either. I think she's hiding from TRHO who keeps trying to put strange things on her head.

As for Lala, she seems to be a bit preoccupied lately. Her mommy is going to have a baby and her daddy has been sick. She's being terrorized by Willow and Racer, too. I think she's just laying low and waiting for all the excitement to die down.

I'm gonna go finish my nap. Thanks again, y'all!

Thursday, September 4, 2008

Shhhh....

They're leaving later today.

The long weekend party starts after the sun goes down tonight.

I've got Greenies, lots of 'nip toys, and a big bed for resting.

C'mon over!

Wednesday, September 3, 2008

What to do?

I just heard Treater and Napper talking. They are leaving me again! They are going back to the place where we used to live for a few days.

Apparently, I'll be here alone for three nights. I'll have the big bed all to myself!!! Maybe I'll finally get to sleep on Treater's pillow (she hates that!).

Better yet, three nights alone would be perfect for having fun...maybe - perhaps - like inviting some furrends over and having a party?!

Any ideas? What should I do? Have a party? Entice an anole to come inside to play? Trash the place? Leave some "goodies" around the apartment?

Whatever I decide to do, I'm not responsible. It's not my fault they're leaving me. Cats just wanna have fun. Right?

My 3-day weekend

This is how I spent my long Labor Day weekend...and how I plan to spend today, too!

Friday, August 29, 2008

Whew!

Everything seems to be okay. It's too complicated for a simple cat like me to explain, but Treater wrote about what happened to Stretch.

Everything is fine. Everything is going to be okay. I just know it.

Thanks to effurrybody for all the purrayers!!

Uh, not so good.

That ringy-thingy did it again last night. Treater was on the phone for a long time in the middle of the night. It was Light. Stretch had to ride in an ambulance back to the hospital. They thought his surgery was okay, but I guess something went wrong.

We're purraying over here again.

Wednesday, August 27, 2008

Looks good!

Treater has been on the phone a lot this afternoon, but I heard her say that Stretch is out of surgery and doing fine and is in recovery! My human sister hasn't seen him yet and hasn't talked to the doctor yet, but everything looks good so far.

Thanks to effurrybody for all of the wonderful purrayers!!

Purray today

My human brother-in-law, Stretch, is having surgery this morning. Please remember to pray for him and my human sister!

Rain and bird and cat

It keeps raining, and the big birds keep coming back.

Treater went out in the rain to get a better picture of an ibis for me...

...and OF me!!

Friday, August 22, 2008

So near, yet so far

What am I watching?

So near...

...yet so far away.

It's raining here. Treater says that Fay is making it rain. I guess Fay's not all bad, 'cause the rain makes these birdies come out.

Treater says that Fay is bad - really bad - for the people on the east coast 'cause they have too much rain. Fay is wearing out her welcome. Go away, Fay!

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

My human sister and her hubby and Treater and Napper really appreciate everybody's prayers. My human sister (Light) and her hubby (Stretch) are Lala's momma and daddy. Lala's too busy to write because she's keeping things in order at the farm and making Willow, Racer, and Lady toe the line while Stretch is in the hospital. I think she'll be back in action here soon.

Anyway, Stretch's surgery is on Wednesday, and we are purraying that it will fix all of his problems and make him all better. Thanks for purraying, and please keep it up!

Wednesday, August 20, 2008

Another update

Treater answered the ringy-thingy early this morning. She said that it was my human sister telling us that her hubby is back in the hospital again. She said, "Complications." I'm not sure what that means, but Treater is very unhappy.

I think we all need to keep purraying for Stretch.

Friday, August 15, 2008

An update

Thanks so much to all of you for purraying - cats and humans alike! My human sister says that her hubby is doing better and responding very well to his treatment. She said that he shows no signs of any permanent damage, but the doctor found a hole in his heart. That means he's going to have surgery on August 27.

My human sister and her hubby are Lala's people. Lala is my blogging buddy, but she doesn't blog much because her mommy is going to have a human baby. There's not going to be much lap room for Lala, so that means not much blogging!

Thanks again for purraying, and please don't stop! Oh, and Treater and Napper decided to wait before going up there to be with them, so they're still here with me. That makes me purrrrr!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Today was a very rainy day. It rained so much that it brought out the ibises...a bunch of them! One ibis didn't want to get his feet wet. I don't blame him. I don't much care for wet feet, either.

Thursday, August 14, 2008

Purrayers needed!

This isn't good. My human sister (the one who is going to have a baby) called and woke us up last night. Her hubby was hospitalized last night. The tests showed that he has suffered a series of strokes last night and this morning.

Treater and Napper may be flying up there to be with them. I'm not sure who's going to be here with me.

Keep us all in your purrayers, please!

Gold medalist

Remember yesterday when I said that I'd been napping...a lot?

Well, I forgot to add one more thing that I've been doing a lot of lately.

I'm practicing for the Hairball Olympics. I figured I should go for the Gold.

Cat Days of August

It's August.

It's hot.

It's been raining a bit. Well, a lot.

Nothing's going on. I haven't even had anything to blog about. So how have I been spending my time?

The Needs Meme

I read about this meme over at Gandalf and Grayson's blog. It looked interesting. I thought I'd try it, too. It's pretty easy. Just google your name with the word "needs" after it and see what you come up with!

Spooky got 2,640,000 results! Here are the top 10:

1. Spooky needs a holiday in Somalia!
Where? My holidays are better spent under the bed.

2. Spooky needs a home.
I have a home, thankyouverymuch.

3. Spooky needs a break.
I got one when we moved far away from Eve and the Tall Guy Who Always Picks Me Up.

4. Spooky needs help!
Everyone needs help once in a while...even if that means going to the V-E-T.

5. Spooky needs food.
Yep. 'Nuff said!

6. Spooky needs more dark stuff.
Um, 'xactly what kind of "dark stuff" does this refer to?

7. Spooky needs to relax.
Can't get any more relaxed than this:

8. Spooky needs to find a new date.
New date? I haven't had the first date yet!

9. Spooky needs a horse.
Uh...No.

10. Spooky needs more mileage.
Mileage? I'm a C-A-T, not a C-A-R.

Monday, August 4, 2008

A new critter?

Well, mystery solved. Sort of.

It has something to do with that red-headed human "sister" of mine. She's the one that my nieces (Willow and Lala) and nephew cat (Racer) live with. She said she's getting a baby. I wonder if it will be furry and have a tail? It might have blue eyes like me, or maybe it'll have green ones like Willow, Lala, and Racer. Just as long as it doesn't bark like Lady (their D-O-G).

Well, whatever kind of baby critter it is, Treater and Napper are happy, and they keep calling each other "Grandma" and "Grandpa."

People are so weird.

What's going on?

Somebody in this place has the giggles. She won't quit giggling and she won't tell me what it's all about. Napper is actually giggling, too.

I know what they say. "Curiosity killed the cat."

Hey, I'm a cat.

I'm curious.

Treater says I'll have to wait 'till next week to find out.

That was NOT funny!

Sometimes my people can be so stupid.

Somebody forgot to fill my water dish.

I think I was patient long enough. In my opinion, it's perfect acceptable to complain loudly in Somebody's ear at 5 o'clock in the morning. If Somebody would be more thoughtful and considerate, then Somebody wouldn't have to get out of bed so early.

It worked. Somebody got up and washed and refilled my bowl. With COLD water. Right out of the fridge. What was Somebody thinking, anyway?

Napper then caught me up on the bathroom counter looking for water in the sink. He added water and left the room. I'm too embarrassed to tell what happened next, but it serves them right that there was water all over the mirror, counter, floor...everywhere. I had to go off into the corner to lick myself dry. Napper laughed. Loudly. Then he told Treater. Sheesh.

If I'm not staking out my water bowl, you'll find me under the bed today. Getting dry...and getting over this humiliation.

What I saw today

I'm sorry for taking such a long nap. We've had so much rain and so many storms...it's making me stay so sleepy all the time.

Today's nap was interrupted by a lot of activity outside my big window. These are called ibises. One is called an ibis. Boy, do they move fast! Once in a while, one would get mad at another one for getting in his way. They sure were funny to watch. It would have been better if I could have had a try at one of them...I think I could have snagged at least one to play with. Heeheeheehee...

No blogging today

It's raining,
thundering,
gloomy,
wet...
all those things that make me wanna curl up and nap.

Later, ya'll.

My long weekend

Did you see the new link in the sidebar? Be sure to click it and feed the hungry kitties! I found it on The Crew's blog. George wrote about it.

FreeKibbleKat.com

We had all kinds of visitors this weekend! Normally I don't like visitors. I just sniff their hands and then leave. This time, the lady visitor who came on Friday night gave me a scratch. She scratched me in just the right place, so I decided to sit near her feet and make her bend over and keep scratching me. It certainly surprised my people! Napper kept asking me if I felt okay. My people and the visitors left for a long time, but then they came back smelling like FISH! I wonder why the lady with the good scratches didn't think to bring me back some of that good-smelling fish?

Then, Treater's cousin came in to visit. She was so much like Treater that I just curled up at her feet. It might be nice to have two of them around - Treater and Treater's cousin. I might get double treats and Greenies! Then, a really odd thing happened. Treater, Napper, and Treater's cousin all left for a while. When they came back, they smelled like FISH! What is it with these people? If they're gonna be around fish, they oughta be bringing some back to ME!

These visitors weren't so bad. There weren't any mini-visitors. No one tried to pick me up or pull my tail. I might let more visitors come, but someone needs to please bring me some of that good-smelling fish!

Yesterday afternoon, I sprawled out on my footstool and watched Treater clean the 'partment.

Pretty soon, what was on the patio became more interesting than what Treater was doing. The wind was blowing a few leaves around and some of the plants were swaying. Then I spotted something moving.

This big ol' anole was perched on one of the pretend pelicans. He was doing his push-ups. As fast as they run and climb, I thought they'd already be in great physical shape, but I guess the push-ups help, too.

They make Treater laugh when they start "blowing bubbles." She said it reminds her of bubblegum when they do this. I think it's just plain weird.

I've had a very busy four days. I think I'll spend today just taking it easy, after I visit some of my blogging buddies, that is.

Company's coming

I'm not especially happy with my people right now.

First, they came home on Sunday smelling like a woofie...the one with big teeth named Eve.

Then, they actually left again in the middle of the week! Thankfully, it was just for one night. However, once again, they smelled like Eve. I'm not sure just what's going on with that.

Treater has been busy this week working out in the garage. She said there are more of those boxes out there. She doesn't stay long 'cause it's something like 'leventy-hunnert degrees out there! She certainly smells "interesting" when she comes back in. Of course, that means she won't take any dictation for me. Shoot, she hasn't even been taking interesting pictures this week.

Then, last night, after a phone call, she got mad. Then she got busy. And she's still busy today... cleaning. That means the big sucky machine runs all over the place...and things start flying in the air and making me sneeze. She said some people called and said they were in town and could they come over today to visit and see our 'partment. Treater said she hasn't had time to clean all week, but she's trying to get it done today before they get here.

I'm getting to write this because she is tired and sat down by the computer to rest and I threatened her with biteys and hairballs if she didn't take dictation right this minute!

Treater said that her cousin is flying in to visit, too, and that she'll be here Sunday night. This place is getting busier than a beehive. After I finish with this, I may just head for the space 'neath the bed and camp out there for the weekend. I think I can reach the bag of Greenies - the one with the broken zip-strip that won't stay closed!!! - and I'll just haul it under the bed with me.

Oh, I think you're supposed to give a compliment with every criticism (or something like that - it's what Treater always says). So, I've complained and criticized; here's my compliment: Treater did a very good thing last night when she washed the towel that she keeps on my footstool and then dried it till it was good and hot and then called to me as she put it - still very warm! - on my footstool. I didn't budge from there for hours last night!

Traitors!

My people left me again this weekend, but for only one night. I did the appropriate thing, and left a hairball for Treater to find. It was a hairball to be proud of, too!

As they were bringing things in, I kept noticing a peculiar scent.

I smelled their shoes.

I smelled the suitcase.

I smelled the vacuum cleaner (yeah, that went with them on this trip, too!).

When Treater pulled the dirty clothes out of the suitcase and I caught a whiff of those, it suddenly hit me.

I know that smell, and it is not good!

They were disloyal to me this weekend. They played with a D-O-G! They had been playing with Eve (my niece dog).

Treater even took a picture of Eve, but she said she was sorry that it is so blurry. If I took the picture, it would be blurrier than this, 'cause I'd be shaking too hard!

Don't mess with me today!

I'm watching TV...

...go away and leave me alone!

It's just one of those days...weeks...whatever.

Wordless Wednesday

I'm staying close to my people. I have to make certain they don't take off again.

Alone no more

Well, they are back.

My people left me for ten whole days! I was so happy to see them that I forgot to be stand-offish when they came in the door. I talked and talked and talked...telling them that I missed them and that I was glad they were home. I even forgot to trash the place - I just left a couple of urps around. I snuggled with them and stayed close all evening.

Well, this morning I remembered that I was supposed to be mad at them for leaving me. So, I left a goodie in the middle of the living room floor...along with a few other things. hee hee

That'll teach 'em to leave me alone for so long.

The "V" word

Looks like I'm being left again.

My people have a lot of suitcases out and they are going on something called a "vacation." I don't like it. Anything that involves suitcases is bad.

Sooooo.....

That means that they will unplug the computer and I won't be able to visit anyone for a few days. Please don't forget about me!

You know, one of these days, I'm going to pack my own suitcase and take a vacation. Maybe I can visit all of the blogging kitties! Meanwhile, if anyone wants to drop in for a visit, they are leaving lots of Greenies for me!

This does not bode well...

In addition to hearing the word, "vacation," now I'm seeing...

Suitcases
The big water and food bowls
Two litter boxes
A list (I took care of that - I peed on it!)

Usually that combination means that my people will disappear and somebody strange will be coming in. I never see the strange person, though, 'cause I stay under the bed.

I am worried.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

Huh?

This may or may not be a good thing. I've been hearing a new word around here lately.

Vacation.

What's that?

Should I be worried?

Remembering

Today is a day for remembering.

Today is a day of tribute in honor of Storm and the battle she fought...and won.

Many of us cats came to a home in which other cats had lived before us. I know that my people had many other cats. Napper fondly remembers Duchess, the first Siamese who adopted his family. Treater said her family was adopted by many, many cats over the years.

When Treater and Napper married, they found Skeeter, a Blue Point Siamese. This picture is old! It was taken on Christmas Day in 1978!

The second photo shows that Skeeter usually put herself in odd situations without thinking them through first. She saw this small brown paper bag sitting on Napper's desk. Treater said that Napper was in something called graduate school at the time. Treater said this about Skeeter and this picture:

She crawled in; apparently it didn't occur to her to back out - she attempted a U-turn instead and sort of got stuck. Napper held her up while I grabbed the camera. This photo was also taken in December 1978.

After Skeeter died too young, along came Shauna Li (left) and Brandywyne (right), both Seal Point Siamese cats. Treater wrote about these two:
These two were an extremely active pair, which usually resulted in some kind of damage around the house. We lost Brandy not too long after this photo in an unfortunate mishap (directly related to their mischievousness). So, after Shauna mourned for too long, we brought home Tua Mea Mau (according to a cousin-in-law from Thailand, that means “female cat”). Tu was a Chocolate Point Siamese.

This picture (below) is of Tu when she was still a kitten. Here's what Treater wrote about Shauna and Tu:
It took a while for Shauna and Tu to adapt to each other, but they did become fast friends. After graduate school, we moved back to our hometown, and Tu decided she wasn’t happy in our new place. She became attached to my step-dad, and ended up living with him. They were inseparable! She knew when it was naptime, and would rush ahead to be the first one in bed.

More from Treater's writing:
Once again, Shauna was the only cat in our household. By then, our daughter had come along, and it didn’t matter to Shauna if she wanted to carry her by the neck or drag her by the tail, as long as she was getting attention, she was happy.
After Shauna left, Gabrielle became part of this family. Gabrielle was a little Lilac Point Siamese. Again, here's what Treater wrote about Gabs:
Gabrielle was another affectionate kitty. She made the moves with us from Kentucky to Texas, and several years later from Texas to Florida. Gabrielle lived a long and happy life with us, despite being moved from state to state to state, and house to apartment to house, over and over again.

Treater said that Gabs died on January 2, 1999 of cancer. They missed her so much that I had to step in and take care of this family. I was born on January 31, 1999.

Remember the ones who have gone on.

Pray for Storm and her family today.
