I am soooo embarrassed

That. Was. So. Not. Funny.

Not at all. I may never play with my new toy again. Nor will I ever show my face in public again.

I am so embarrassed.

Remember that new toy I got this week? I was relaxing on the ottoman last night while Treater and Napper were sitting on each side of me with books in their laps. Not looking at me. Not talking to me. Pooh. I got up and told Treater that I was bored, so she gave me that new toy.

I licked and chewed and tossed and rolled it all around, and then I settled down to lick some more. I really got into the licking and next thing I knew, the springy tail on that toy got wrapped around my leg. I couldn't get it off! I ran around and I shook my leg and it wouldn't come off! I jumped back on the ottoman and I shook and shook and shook. Everybody was watching me. This was not the time to be watching me humiliate myself. They weren't even trying to help...they were laughing! At me!

Finally, I shook my leg so hard that the toy flew off into the air and hit the ceiling! I didn't wait around for it to come down - I ran to my safe spot under the bed.

Who wants a slightly-used, well-licked springy toy?

I'm just too humiliated to write for a while. Besides, Treater and Napper are going back to our old house this weekend. Maybe they'll forget about that incident by the time they come back. Perhaps we can plead with Lala to fill in for now and update us on their outdoor adventures. I hear that she, Willow, and Racer have been spending a little time in their backyard. Lala?

Check out Mickey's blog! He featured me in his Special Breeds post! My BFFF (best female feline friend) , Miss Kitty, NFC, is in there, too.

New Toy, Lazy Spooky

I got a new toy today! It has a springy tail and catnip in its head. Strange little worm, I know, but it's fun to play with...that is, until Treater pulls out the flashy silver box. When that box is out, I have to look disinterested. Did I do well?

The little red dot...and HUGS (updated)

I just found out that today is a day for HUGS! You can read all about it at the Meezers place. HUG every kitty you see today and tell them how much you appreciate them!

To all my dear dear furrends: (((((((HUGS)))))))
You're all wonderful!

Napper tried to get me to play last night. I just wasn't interested. I kept hoping he'd settle down for his nap. He finally did after he realized that I wasn't interested in chasing that little red dot.

This is the first weekend that Treater and Napper are not leaving me! They are staying here...with me! They said it's a long weekend, so maybe Napper will take more naps...with me!

Treater said we can't blog much this weekend. Maybe I'll get to sneak in here and visit around. Right now, though, it's time for my mid-morning nap under the bed!

TTFN!

My nose

Tiggie, FOC, has made comments before about my nose. He called it "fascinating." It is sort of unusual, I guess. It's mostly black, but there's a little pink on the right side. The coloring is uneven. Treater tells me my nose looks smudged. Whatever. It works. I can smell a Greenie from across the apartment.

Oh, please excuse the "sleepies" in my eyes. I'm still trying to catch up on my sleep from the party this weekend.

Party wrap-up

Wow…what a party we had! Is anybody still here? I haven’t checked all of the hidey places yet – someone may have fallen asleep somewhere.

I wanted to thank Daisy for her fantastic Circus stunts – who knew that a clothesline could be put to such use (I loved that tutu, Daisy!)? Everyone pitched in with some great ‘nip toys, cat milk, and treats, too. My supply of Greenies is sadly depleted. Treater wondered how I managed to eat them all (wink) and said she’ll run out for more this afternoon. A few guests managed to overdo the ‘nip and had to settle into a corner or under a chair with their blankies for the night, but that’s okay. The anoles came out bright and early each morning, so we shook off the grogginess and got our exercise chasing anoles.

We missed a few guests:

  • Padme was grounded for “eating mommy’s flowers” and returning them “later on the family room carpet.”
  • Tiggie and Hart couldn’t come because poor Blondie was in the hospital and they had to hold down the fort. Get well soon, Blondie! The boys miss you!
  • Goldie and Shade were busy snoopervising the yardwork, and Goldie is seriously trying to find a way to convince the PM that he needs to “check out” those new baby robins.

But, we had lots of cool cats here and we partied all weekend. I especially want to thank Junior, Samantha and Mr. Tigger for staying behind to help with the clean-up. Treater and Napper never suspected a thing.

Let's do it again...soon!

Party!

My people are leaving again for the weekend. They have promised me that they'll only do this a couple of more times...yeah, right. Y'know, it's time for me to get on with my life and quit hiding under the bed. So...

I'm gonna throw a party!

I have Greenies!
I have 'nip!
I have ping-pong balls!
There are bazillions of anoles on my patio!

Put on your party hats and bring the feather toys and whatever else you'd like (perhaps some Temptations?). Perhaps we can invite Miss Daisy to provide the entertainment?

This weekend. My place. BYOB.*

Tuesday Meme

Junior tagged me for a meme this morning. Since I haven’t had much to blog about recently (I’ve been sleeping a lot lately), I’m glad to have something to think and write about.

This is called the “Three Names Meme.” This is taken from a poem written by T. S. Eliot called, “The Naming of Cats.” It’s in his book “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats. According to Mr. Eliot, we all have three names (his poem is very funny – you should read it!). You must list the rules to play along with this meme, and they are:

1. You must link to Tara, who originated the meme.

2. You must tell your three names:

First of all, there's the name that the family use daily,
Such as Peter Augustus, Alonzo or James,
Such as Victor or Jonathan, George or Bill Bailey - -
All of them sensible everyday names.

But I tell you, a cat needs a name that's particular,
A name that's peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can he keep up his tail perpendicular,
Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride?

But above and beyond there's still one name left over,
And that is the name that you never will guess;
The name that no human research can discover - -
But THE CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess.
...[that] Deep and inscrutable singular Name.
3. Then, tag three cats (and let them know they are tagged) to give us their three names.

So, without further adieu, here are my three names:

1. Spooky
2. Spooky THE Cat
3. She who happily snoozes beneath the ottoman and dreams of anoles and Greenies.

Now, I've got to tag three other cats. I choose...

1. Tiggie, FOC
2. Miss Kitty
3. Daisy

So, here's my doodle...with a disclaimer (it's really Treater's doodle since I couldn't hold the pencil).

Real food - GOOD food!

Treater told me that I'd better let you kitties know that I'm doing much better. I have a new food! Treater threw away that yukky "healthy" stuff because I wasn't eating it. I lost two pounds! I only weighed 7.5 pounds before I lost weight, so now I have to gain it back. She found another kitty food that is suitable for "mature" cats like me (I'll admit it; I'm nine years old!).

I'm eating more, spending less time hiding under the bed, and I feel like playing now.

I'm ready for some company. Anybody wanna come play?

They are back...again

Did you notice my long blogging absence? My people left me again for a long weekend. They came back yesterday, but left again for a few hours. At least they came back in time for bedtime. I finally got to curl up between them for a long snooze.

They keep following me around with a worried look on their faces. Huh. They should. After all, they keep leaving me so I'm gonna be one unhappy cat. How would they like being left alone all weekend with absolutely nothing to do and no one to talk to?

Treater blogged this morning. I know she's worried about me 'cause I read this at her blog:

Our frequent absences have been especially hard on Spooky. She has been nervous and unsettled since we brought her to the apartment. A short time prior to the move, she began to develop some bad habits and odd behaviors. After several trips to the Vet’s office, and one long stay, it was decided that she was just being affected by the move. She is on behavior modification medication (”kitty prozac,” as the Vet calls it), but in the past couple of weeks, she has begun to lose weight, too. The Vet keeps telling us there is nothing else to do short of taking her to a cat psychiatrist. As much as we love our Spooky, I don’t think that’s a realistic solution. Does anyone have any experience with a depressed cat?
Yeah. Right. Depressed? Me? As for the weight loss...well, buy me some food that I like! I don't much care for that healthy stuff, and that white powder that they sprinkle on my food each day...what is that about? It makes my food taste funny.

Well, anyway, they're back and Treater finally turned on a computer. Maybe she'll help me get some new pix up here this week. For now, I'm gonna take a nap. Treater gave me an ear-scritching that really made me sleepy.

TTFN!
